Auto Shop Writer 8 includes an automated update service that allows users to always have the most recent version of the software. The programs are included automatically with your CD or online installation program.
The programs require an active internet connection to work, and we strongly recommend that this be provided through a broadband service.
Notification:
When you first start Auto Shop Writer 8, each day, on an internet connected computer, the program will check the MasterLink Software update server for new releases. That computer will then notify you if you are current, or if there is a new update available for you. If your account is not current, then updates will not be available. This status will be saved on your company server and other workstations signing on to the program will not need to check for an update. If you do not have a full time internet connection, then this service will not occur.
Step 1: Update The Server
Update the server first. Exit all running programs on all computers before doing these steps. This process will go online to the MasterLink Software website, and download the latest key file, update your authorizations, download and update the Datamanager program, and download a new ASW8.EXE which can be applied to the workstations. Follow these steps:
Of course, if you receive a message that says the update was not downloaded, then you will not want to move to Step 2.
Step 2: Update The Workstation
Once the server has completed updating, you may go to the workstations and enable the latest program. Follow these steps:
This process should take only a few seconds. Be sure to look at the About menu option under Help in ASW 8 to be sure you are running the latest version on that workstation.
Updating services are only for those who have paid for support and update services. If your account is behind, or you have elected to not pay for support and updates, do not perform these steps. MasterLink Software can not help you roll back your version, but if your account does not authorize the update, and you install the software, your system will not operate until you pay the past due fees and have your authroization updated. |
